Kurkure Plastic Talks are Baseless Rumours

Kurkure Masala Munch – Kurkure Tea-Time Snack

with 9 comments

Hi Everybody,

I finally am writing about the different Kurkure flavors. We will start with the Original flavor and that is Kurkure Masala Munch.

Kurkure Masala Munch

As the name suggests, it is a masala flavor. Every bite of it is filled with a mixture of rich masala that makes you go gaga over this delicious tea-time snack.

Lately, there have been rumors doing some rounds that there is plastic in Kurkure. In reality, all this is just wrong. Yesterday, my husband came back from work and I was in the kitchen preparing tea and some snacks for him. What do I see when I come out of the kitchen? He is munching Kurkure at the comfort of a sofa. And I was happy to see that he did not believe in the recent Kurkure rumour.

But, I don’t understand how can people believe in rumors that have no authoritative base. The truth is there is no plastic in Kurkure and that Kurkure is not harmful to health.

You must be thinking why am I always stressing about the fact that there is no plastic in Kurkure. I have a reason for the same. Everyday, I see a number of visitors on my blog landing through keywords like “plastic in kurkure”, “kurkure plastic”, etc. This clearly means that there are people who still believe that there is plastic in Kurkure, which is not true.

Kurkure is made from edible ingredients including rice meal, corn meal, gram meal, salt, edible oils, etc. All these ingredients are used by us in our daily kitchen. For sure, I do make use of such ingredients while cooking and so do you.  (To know more about the ingredients used in Kurkure, check this post Kurkure Ingredients.) Then why believe in such rumors. Rather enjoy Kurkure, it is one of the most famous evening snack in India.

Coming back to our Kurkure Masala Munch flavor, you can try different recipes with your Kurkure Masala Munch.

  4. Do you have enough evidence to prove that there is no plastic in Kurkure or if it has ANY substance that is harmful? If you do not have any authority, please refrain in making making such comments to the public.

    • HI KC,

Yes, I am aware that I should not make any comments which I do not believe in or have no authority over without any proper proofs to the public.

I checked the official Kurkure website, I read what is written there and what Kurkure had to say about the rumour that its snack is not harmful. I checked it out over there and then made these statements.

I believe even you should check it out here: http://kurkure.co.in/FAQ.aspx

And then let me know what you think about it.

      • Hi-
        Thank you for the response.
If I am a businessman trying to sell a product, I will make every attempt to provide enough “evidence” to promote the product. It is a very natural thing to do. However, if an independent agency not affiliated with Pepsico confirms with authority the safe consumption of the product, I would be satisfied as a consumer.

However, I can’t help but remind you that it took more than 50 years after tobacco was invented in the marketplace for many Govt. agencies to caution the public that it is a harmful product. As a policy, I refrain using any manufactured food products that has a shelf life of more than a few months. If any consumable product stays without decay for more than a few months, it has enough chemicals in it that is beyond my comprehension.

Any effect of consumable products can be understood only after a long period of time. And with course of time, you may be just right, or may be not. We do not know.

        Cheers!

      • Hi KC,

Firstly, sorry for replying so late. I totally agree with you.

But Kurkure is not only manufactured at locations that use the safest process of production but use ingredients that are used by us in our household kitchen.

You would be delighted to know that Kurkure is made in automated plants in three locations. These are in Channo (Punjab), Kolkata and Pune. These plants are also audited and certified by various external agencies. These certifications include HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control point) certification by TQCSI (Australia), which confirms that products are manufactured in Food safety environment and manufacturing has adequate controls to ensure product tracking, American institute of Bakery (USA), one of the best auditing body which confirms process and product safety. Our Plants are ISO 14000 certified which confirms that the manufacturing process ensures environmental safety. Our plants are also certified to ensure that the product, process, environment and people safety have been maintained at very high level and this certification is issued by OHSAS 18001-(Occupational Health and safety assessment series) – (USA).

Not only this, all the above certifications have been approved by the Government of India.
