The New Kurkure Family and the Kurkure Plastic Rumour

leave a comment »

Kurkure is one of the most famous snack brands in India. People of all ages enjoy this snack as a combo (right from chai to fried rice) or as a snack itself. Brand Kurkure has always been known for its sumptuous flavours and innovative ads. The credit of which goes to the Kurkure brand team. However, Kurkure did have a dark phase where there were rumours about Kurkure containing plastic. Rumours are always rumours and they are never true. Like it is with Kurkure, the Kurkure plastic talks are just baseless. People spreading Kurkure plastic rumours do not understand that Kurkure is a fried extruded product which contains a high amount of oil. Any product which has that level of Oil or fat will burn e.g. Namkeens, Fried Papad, Matri, Khakra etc will also burn as such products have very low water in them which is as low as 2% or even less. These are all dry products with oil which makes it good for burning.

That’s all about the Kurkure plastic talk, let’s just talk about the Kurkure snack now which is available in a variety of regional as well as contemporary flavours that are loved by both young and the old. My sister and granny both just love this snack. The former enjoys it with her lunch while the latter enjoys it with tea. All in all, we just love this snack in our family.

Juhi Chawla had been the brand ambassador for Kurkure since many years now. We loved her style, her quirkiness, her attitude in all the Kurkure ads. But she has now given way to the new Kurkure family. Sadly, she is not a part of this family now, so no more Juhi in Kurkure ads. The new Kurkure family is a family of 6 members who will represent their love for the product.

Following are the names of the new Kurkure family members and their real names:
1. Social Butterfly – Played by Farida Jalal
2. Chupa Rustam – Played by Boman Irani
3. Perfect Bhabhi – Played by South Actress Ramya Krishnan
4. Bollywood Banker – Played by Kunal Kapoor
5. Bahu Remix – Played by Parineeti Chopra
6. Bhukkad – Played by Shivansh

The names of the new Kurkure family members are really interesting and so are their intro ads. I wanted to share this post with my readers from a while now but just couldn’t spare myself some time for the blog.

Following are the intro ads for the new family members, which one did you like the most:

You would agree with me that today our lives have become so busy that at times it becomes difficult to catch up even with our next door friends. Weekends are the only days when we are able to catch up with friends and wind up ourselves from the hectic work schedule. However, Internet is the only medium where we are available 365 days a week and at times 24/7! So, wierd ain’t it? Technology has taken such a pivotal role in our lives that we just can’t do without it.

Our days begin with the mobile alarm waking us up in the morning, so on and so forth. We have virtually become slaves of technology. All said and done, technology does have a positive side. It helps us to keep ourselves updated as to what is happening in the world, catch up with our friends online everyday, etc. Not only that, it is now easier to keep a track of our favorite brands with the help of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc.

Kurkure Movie Receives Legal Notice from PepsiCo India

leave a comment »

PepsiCo India has issued a legal notice to the producers of an “Adult entertainment film” for bearing the title KURKURE. The word KURKURE has no obvious meaning in the Telugu language and the same appears to be deliberately used by the producers of the movie. The producers of this local telugu movie not only lack the ethics sense but have also tried destroying the brand equity of one of the most popular snacks brand in the Indian market.

Pepsico India is taking a legal action against its producers and websites not ready to remove the published movie from their respective properties.

KURKURE is a trademark solely owned by PepsiCo India and so not anyone can just start associating the brand term with their own ventures. It is like, you have been owning a home for 20 years and spending your life there. And all of a sudden, one day someone enters your home and claims that it is his home. That’s not right! What do you think? Don’t we have a right to stand for something that is ours. And today, when PepsiCo is doing just the same that is fighting for its brand equity. I support them, hoping they win this battle against the unethical Kurkure movie producers. I support my favorite snack brand, Kurkure. Long live Kurkure!

Video Making of ‘Kurkure Rajma Ad’

Hey Everybody,

I didn’t find the actual ad yet but the making of the Kurkure Funjabi Kadhai Masala Ad, sharing it here:

New Kurkure Funjabi Kadhai Masala

with 3 comments

Hey Everybody,
Afer a long time, I found something interesting on Kurkure to post on this blog. The new Kurkure flavor is out and that is the Kurkure Funjabi Kadhai Masala in Rajma flavor. Funjabi Kadhai Masala is made with Rajma and embellished with the aroma of cinnamon, clove, black cardamom and hint of tangy tomato. With the ingredients, it is easy to make out that this new Kurkure is from the kitchens of Punjab. Has anyobdy tasted it?

The ad launch of the new Kurkure Funjabi Kadhai Masala was amazing. For the ones who haven’t seen the ad yet, just a brief review only for you.

The ad as usual has Juhi as the main character. She is a mom in this ad. The ad has been shot with the DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge) background, they have taken the scene where Raj comes to meet Simran in the farms of Punjab in India. But here instead of Simran, it is the mom who comes running to meet her son. The funny part out here is that she ends up hugging the scare-crow that you usually see in the Indian farms to keep off the crows from pecking the crops and thereby destroying it. She corrects herself soon and finally meets her grand-son.

The ad is funny but at the same time brings you back to your Indian roots that is how I get it.

If any of you have seen the new ad, do write your views on the same. Would love to hear’em? In the meantime, what I am going to do is find the official video for the ad and share it with you here.

Keep posting your views here, ciao!

Not Harmful Kurkure Snack in Kolkata

with one comment

Kurkure-East-Parar-Tok-Jhal

Kurkure had launched a new, delicious localized flavor with
‘East Parar Tok Jhal’ in Kolkata this April. This Kurkure snack is not harmful to health as it is made from rice, corn and special spices.

Since the snack was launched in Kolkata, I did not have the opportunity to taste. Did any of you taste it then do share your experience on the same? All of you must be thinking how on earth did I know about the flavour that was introduced in Kolkata. I have a very dear friend Nishi Bannerjee residing in the eastern part of the country, came to know about it from her.

She said that the new Kurkure ‘East Parar Tok Jhal’ flavour brings with it a tangy taste of mustard and a mouth watering mix of spices.

Made using rice, corn and gram blended with a variety of flavors, consumers can now enjoy the great taste of Kurkure products, cooked in high quality edible vegetable oil.

The new flavour derives itself from spices that put Indian food on a pedestal and as the name suggests, it celebrates the local cuisine & taste of the region! For Kurkure lovers, their very own tedha shaped snack will offer them a wider variety to choose from!

How cool is that, so people Kurkure is not harmful but rather a tasty snack with mouth-lickering flavours.
